Iran is taking part in the 38th Moscow International Book Fair with over 300 titles, presenting Persian literature, Iranology, and children’s books, alongside cultural events.
Moscow: The 38th Moscow International Book Fair opened on Wednesday, 3 September 2025 (12 Shahrivar 1404), at the VDNKh Exhibition Centre in the Russian capital. The event brings together more than 300 publishers and distributors from Russia and abroad, including participants from Iran, India, China, Belarus, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and North Korea. The fair runs until 7 September (16 Shahrivar).
The Iran Book and Literature House is presenting over 300 book titles in a 27-square-metre pavilion. The collection covers a wide range of topics including classical and contemporary Persian literature, Iranology, Persian language education, Islamic studies, art, resistance literature, and children’s books. A dedicated section also highlights works of Iranian illustrators.
According to Masoud Ahmadvand, Iran’s cultural attaché in Russia, the pavilion features not only contemporary publications but also books translated from Persian into Russian. The programme further includes workshops on storytelling and illustration for children and young adults, as well as sessions introducing Iranian myths, led by author Marjan Fouladvand and illustrator Atefeh Malekijoo.
The Iranian pavilion also introduces visitors to initiatives such as the Translation Grant Scheme, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s World Award for Book of the Year, and the Tehran International Book Fair. This participation aims to promote the Persian language, expand cooperation in translation and copyright, and mark the 1,500th anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In addition, the Ibn Sina Foundation for Islamic Studies, based in Moscow, is exhibiting more than 400 titles. On the sidelines of the fair, Iranian delegates, including Ebrahim Heydari, Director of the Iran Book and Literature House, held talks with Russian publishers and cultural figures to explore avenues for future cooperation.
The Moscow International Book Fair is Russia’s most important annual literary event. This year’s edition is accompanied by the 3rd Moscow International Children’s Book Fair, featuring more than 100 events including workshops, animated film screenings, and interactive competitions. The fair also highlights new trends in digital publishing, audiobooks, and modern publishing technologies, alongside author readings, panel discussions, and book launches.
