Strong Iranian Presence at the 8th Yerevan International Book Festival

Iran showcases new titles at the 8th Yerevan International Book Festival (5–7 Sept), joining global publishers for 50+ events, dialogues, and discounted book fairs.

Yerevan: Iran participated actively in the 8th Yerevan International Book Festival, Armenia’s largest literary event, showcasing a cultural pavilion that brought together Iranian publishing institutions and official representatives to promote cultural exchange and present contemporary Iranian literary output.

Held in Republic Square, the festival ran from 5–7 September and further cemented Yerevan’s status as a cultural hub of the Caucasus. Iran’s presence drew attention on both the regional and international literary scenes, offering visitors an updated window into Persian literature, translation projects, and publishing trends.

This year’s edition featured writers and publishers from multiple countries, including Iran, the United Kingdom, Russia, and the United States, creating an open platform for dialogue, networking, and future cooperation. The programme included more than 50 cultural events—from poetry readings and author talks to thematic panels and industry roundtables alongside book exhibitions with discounts of up to 50% aimed at encouraging readership and book sales.

Iran’s pavilion highlighted new and notable titles across fiction and non-fiction, as well as curated selections that reflect current currents in Iranian letters. Representatives also engaged with peers and festival organisers to explore bilateral projects in translation, rights sales, and joint programming for forthcoming regional book fairs.

By combining a visible pavilion presence with substantive professional meetings, Iran’s participation underscored its commitment to literary diplomacy and to deepening cultural ties with Armenia and the wider international book community.
