General description of the university:

Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, as the third oldest university in Iran, was established in 1949 in the holy city of Mashhad. In 1955, by issuing another license, the faculty of literature was established with five separate fields. With the expansion of higher education in the country, in order, the faculty of reasonable and transferable (which was later renamed to theology), the faculty of science, the faculty of dentistry, the night course, the faculty of pharmaceutical and nutrition sciences, the faculty of educational sciences and psychology, the faculty of agriculture, the faculty of engineering, the institute Optometry, university high school and education center were added to Mashhad University, which was renamed to Ferdowsi University since 1974. The need to expand education after the Islamic Revolution caused that after the change in some units and the separation of the University of Medical Sciences from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, the Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Shirvan Faculty of Agriculture, the Faculty of Sports Sciences, the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, the Research center for Plant Sciences, the Earth Seismological Research Center, University College, Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment, and Faculty of Architecture and Urban design, Faculty of Law and Political Sciences should be added one after the other to the collection of university units. Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, as the largest university in the east of the country, has more than 800 expert and hardworking faculty members. More than 25,000 students are studying in bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees, of which more than 2,000 are international students.
