History
Sharif University of Technology was established in 1965 with the aim of training and providing a part of the country’s needed specialist forces at high scientific levels. The graduates of this university have always been among the strongest engineers and the highest scientific, technical and executive managers of the country and in addition, they have the highest scores among universities in the country in terms of average scores and passing percentage from bachelor to master in most technical, engineering and basic science fields in the master’s entrance exams. Also, those who went abroad to continue their education have also shone well at the international level. Sharif University of Technology has 457 faculty members. 145 of them (32%) are professors, 157 (34%) are associate professor, 148 are assistant professor (32%) and 7 are instructor (2%).
Faculties
This university includes 13 faculties and 5 educational centers. Faculties include basic science faculties, engineering faculties and non-engineering faculties; which are Faculty of Chemistry, Mathematical Sciences, Physics, Management and Economics, Energy Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Chemistry and Petroleum, Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering and Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering.

Academic calendar
This university has two admissions per year, in October (Mehr) is the first semester and in February (Bahman) is the second semester.

University amenities:
The sports facilities of the university include 16 sports halls and 16 specialized courses for the female student section, which include; (physical fitness, skating, badminton, bodybuilding, basketball, walking, pilates, table tennis, bouldering, chess, swimming, futsal, karate, Mountaineering, volleyball and yoga and physical balance) and 16 specialized courses for male students, which include; (Physical fitness, badminton, bodybuilding, basketball, walking, taekwondo, table tennis, judo, bouldering, chess, swimming, futsal, karate, wrestling, Mountaineering and volleyball).
University accommodation facilities:
The university has 12 dormitory complexes, which include; Dormitory complex for men, dormitories for women, town (Dormitory for Married). Kindergarten for children under 5 years old (Mahya Kindergarten) (can be used for students’ children).
Educational facilities:
Center for Language and Linguistics, Department of Philosophy of Science, Management of Physical Education, Center for Education and Engineering Skills, Center for Islamic Education and Human Sciences. (This university doesn’t have a Persian language teaching center).
Dining Halls:
The university has 7 dining halls (Yas – Alborz – Dena – Laleh – Asatid- Alborz – Pardisan). Also, the first university food court has been opened since 2016, which includes 4 booths of Iranian food, fast food, salad bar, cafe and supermarket. Recreational facilities: The cultural affairs of the university organizes tourist-pilgrimage camps several times a year.
