General description of the university
Babolsar Higher School of Economic and Social Sciences in 1349 and in cooperation with Harvard University in order to train specialized human resources in the fields of economics, accounting and finance, social economy and labor law and under the name “Higher School of Economic and Social Sciences” as a non-profit organization was established in the place of Babolsar Grand Hotel (the current central building of University of Mazandaran). In this way, this Higher School of Economic and Social Sciences became one of the most important higher schools in Iran after a few years due to good educational management and now it is considered the largest higher education center in this province. Mazandaran University was officially established on the 17th of September 1979 and with the approval of the Supreme Council of the Revolution to merge these centers, and in recent years, it has grown significantly in terms of quantity and quality.

Persian language course
According to the researches, there is a Persian language course in this university. The center for teaching Persian language to non-Persian speakers of Mazandaran University with the aim of spreading Iranian culture abroad, in 2015, received a license from the Ministry of Science and by offering different language courses at all levels, it has provided an opportunity to learn Persian language for people of all ages.
In addition, the geographical conditions, natural attractions and recreational facilities in Mazandaran province have distinguished this university from other Iranian universities. Learners can get acquainted with these unique features and benefits while learning Persian language and culture. After completing the Persian language training course and passing the comprehensive exam, international students can immediately start studying in their desired field at Mazandaran University or other universities in the country.
University facilities
The university has three dormitory complexes with an area of 3 hectares, which are located near the Caspian Sea. The amenities and beautiful environment of these complexes are considered unique features of this university. This university also has 5 dining halls. Sports spaces of the University of Mazandaran include sports halls, asphalt fields, artificial and natural grass fields, gym, athletics track, tennis court, beach sports complex and shooting hall. Health Department of Mazandaran University has a medical center located near the university and is ready to provide medical and health services to the students of this university.
