About Urumieh University
Urmia University is one of the public universities with 11 faculties, one higher education center, six research institutes, natural history museum and several study, research and service centers such as “microelectronics, antenna and microwave, nanotechnology, MEMS and artemia laboratory” which Having an area of 505 hectares, it is one of the largest and oldest universities in the west and northwest of Iran and one of the comprehensive and main universities of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, which is located in the city of Urmia, in the province of West Azarbaijan. The quality of scientific productions and development of higher education in Urmia University has a good level. This university is considered an indicator in technical sciences, engineering and humanities, as well as the number of references to the articles of university faculty members in the country and the world, and it is one percent of the effective universities in the world.

The unique strategic location of West Azerbaijan Province and its proximity to the three countries of Iraq, Turkey and the Republic of Azerbaijan and the existence of scientific potentials have provided a suitable platform for non-Iranian students to study in this province. Urmia University’s Persian language learning courses for international students with the aim of improving the language skills of Persian language learners in all language skills and components including: writing and grammar, speaking, vocabulary is planned using the latest methods of teaching Persian language. Applicants who get an average to high score in the entrance exam do not need to take a Persian language course and will be registered for studies in their specialized field. The length of the Farsi language training course is offered at three Elementary, intermediate and advanced levels in the form of a 16-week semester (320 hours of the entire course) in groups of 15 to 20 student. After passing and successfully completing the course, international students are prepared to study in Persian language in the desired specialty. This course will include various Iranology programs, tourism, ecotourism, and sports and entertainment programs with the aim of creating more opportunities to strengthen communication skills and become more familiar with Iranian language and culture.
