General description of the university
Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Health Services is one of the public universities of Iran under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education in Tehran. Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Health Services is the survivor of Dar al-Funun School of Medicine in Tehran and is considered one of the oldest academic institutions of medical sciences in Iran. Now, Tehran University of Medical Sciences is the oldest modern higher education center in the country and the largest university of medical sciences. Fortunately, this year, at the beginning of the eighth decade of its establishment, this university has succeeded in achieving the most distinguished scientific ranks in the country, the most obvious of which is the title of the best medical sciences university in the country.
Degrees
Students are admitted to 12 faculties at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels.
Bachelor’s degree in 4 years, master’s degree in 2 years, doctorate in medicine in 7 years, doctorate in dentistry and pharmacy in 6 years, doctorate in other fields in 4 years. Residency and fellowship courses are presented in variable form between 2 and 4 years.

Academic calendar
The academic year is held in two semesters, fall and spring. The fall semester starts from October (Mehr) and the spring semester from the end of February (Bahman).

University services
This university has 99 research centers, it has excellent research opportunities in the field of prevention and treatment of specific diseases in Iran, more than 30 libraries in faculties, research centers, hospitals. Providing health services, counseling and psychological training to improve the lives of students. It has single and married dormitories and the total area of sports facilities that were available to university employees and students in 2021. This was 20,733 square meters, of which 14,860 square meters were indoor space (including 8,779 square meters of physical education management spaces and 5,358 square meters of other units) and 6,836 square meters of open space (including 4,578 square meters of physical education management spaces and 2,258 square meters of other units).
