Medicine is an applied knowledge which aims to maintain and promote health, prevent and treat diseases, and rehabilitate the injured. This work is done by knowing diseases, “diagnosis”, “treatment” and “medical prevention” of their occurrence. Medical knowledge is based on a wide range of disciplines from physics and biology to social sciences, engineering and humanities. Patients know that they have to trust the doctor for treatment, and as a result of this trust, they entrust the decision about their health to the doctor.
Medicine is taught in all universities of medical sciences in Iran.
